An excellent resource, as far as it goes.

David A. Dye has written a meticulous book, documenting every single change between the original printings of the 1958 and 1966 editions of Bruce R. McConkie's "Mormon Doctrine." He openly shows the many additions, deletions and changes between the two books, though they share the exact same ISBN. And these are not minor changes.
However, 1958 and 1966 are not the end of the story. I wish Dye had dug a bit deeper. Maybe he will. A 1979 printing of the 1966 edition, for instance, has completely rewritten the section on dark-skinned people. It adds the 1978 new decisions that for the first time in LDS history permitted a dark-skinned person to hold the Mormon priesthood. All the historical prophecies and proclamations were set aside, including many of the original words of McConkie's, which themselves matched those written and propagated from early Mormon days though 1977.
So while Dye's book is a meticulous piece of research and invaluable for study of the first printings of the two well-known editions of "Mormon Doctrine," Some additional research will surely uncover a trove of less-known, even huge, changes in the book, reflecting the changing doctrines of Mormonism.
